OUR CURRENT SUMMER PROJECT
MOVING OUT: CREATIVITY EXPLORED
These envisioned projects are guided by the principles of applying and teaching art and design thinking which will help make an impact in their local community.
INSTALLATION AND SCULPTURE.
Facilitators: Swati Janu and Friedrike Thonke
Communities have come and gone, each leaving their own traces on the urban landscape. The migrant populations that drive it, our children will explore the impact in
elements of sculpture and installation using the materials found locally. Each piece
will be a response to the concept of the urban space –the framework of streets, buildings, their houses, personal spaces and the problems faced, that shapes the cities around us. These installations will not only spread
awareness but will also focus on the solution of the issue at hand as well.
MIXED MEDIA ART.
Facilitators: Manisha Tripathy
We will explore the concept further in mediums of collage, paint, canvases, print and video. The ways in which these cities are transformed by the movement of people and their growth in terms of skill and education. Children will interview each other
and make a small movie. Others, will work on photographs taken by them, explore
their impressions on canvas with oil, use images to help express themselves better.
OUR BOOK WITH ILLUSTRATIONS
Facilitator: Siddharth Iyer
Children have been working with an illustrator in collaboration with the story book club of their school. They are thrilled to explore the world of fantasy and fiction. Udaan has been conducting discussion and illustration classes for them since the past 2 months. They are now ready to produce their powerful stories on paper. The book will later be published and will be available on sale across various platforms.
OUR ART FESTIVAL
The first phase will involve showcasing the artworks in the communities where children belong. This will spread art amongst their people, help realise the potential in their own children and make them feel involved in the whole process. They also get to express their ideas and find concrete solutions. Our art will trigger them to think for their better future.
The second phase will involve an ongoing art festival in the basement of Udaan, premises of Honda if possible, street art shows and other galleries and institutions interested in promoting this. This will sensitise the conscious and subconscious minds of the urban masses.
